Like many other large companies, Starbucks also decided to integrate the world of Web3 by embarking on the creation of NFT. The famous American coffee chain, created in 1971, has launched its new innovative loyalty program which consists in rewarding its consumers with an NFT when purchasing a coffee.
“Starbucks Rewards Collection” is a classic loyalty program launched by the Starbucks group with the aim of rewarding its consumers for the purchase of a coffee in one of its brands. More specifically, for a coffee purchase, now the consumer earns a loyalty star. These stars can then be used to get free coffee at a Starbucks store or other branded products. In the era of web3, Starbucks launches “Starbucks Odyssey”, the NFT version of the same loyalty program. With this new program, which main guidelines remain the same as the previous one, the rewards will take the form of an NFT. In fact Starbucks proposes to offer NFT stamps to its most loyal customers.
“The new Starbucks Odyssey experience will offer members of the program the opportunity to earn and purchase digital collectible stamps (NFTs) that will unlock access to new, immersive coffee experiences.”
Starbucks press release
Collecting Starbucks NFTs (non-fungible tokens), consumers of the brand can enjoy many benefits.
In its project to integrate the web3, the Starbucks group intends to establish its notoriety with already loyal clients. At the same time and beyond a simple loyalty program, it is above all a marketing strategy aimed to promote the immersion of the consumers into the project and to create an online platform dedicated to NFT. Based on the Polygon network and its MATIC cryptocurrency, the Starbucks Odyssey platform will eventually allow consumers to sell, buy and trade NFTs at competitive prices. Unlike other platforms, Starbucks relies on simplicity. Transactions will not necessarily require the use of a crypto wallet (crypto wallet), a simple credit card will suffice.
